Introducing Hagar (an Arab/Jewish School in Israel) to D.C.
March 14, 2012 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$10
We love introducing people to organizations that fit our tenets, one of which is “banishing ‘us and them’ thinking.” Join us in D.C. (U Street corridor) for Mediterranean hors d’oeuvres prepared by Food and Fete and meet Director of Development Lauren Joseph as she shares about her groundbreaking organization — including a short video — and invites us all into an open-ended conversation.
ABOUT HAGAR (http://www.hajar.org.il/
Hagar is creating a community of coexistence in Israel through a bilingual, multicultural school in Beersheba — the first and only one of its kind in Israel’s Negev. In five years, a dream of a few parents turned into a reality for hundreds as 200 Arab and Jewish children attend their school — where equality, pluralism, and social justice infuse every aspect of their curriculum. Hagar also hosts monthly community events — where four full buses of Arabs and Jews travel together for activities including nature hikes and potluck picnics. Children in the community are developing friendships, and through them, parents are getting to know one another as well. Together, peace is possible.
Space is limited, so please RSVP by Tuesday, March 13th to reserve your spot to firstname.lastname@example.org. Suggested donation of at least $10 at the door.
